We're being asked, we being those of us who talk most about this event,
"Can I still get a room for NadaDada Motel?" It's true, the rooms at the El Cortez are full, and full means full.
Give up your dreams, we say, of squeaking in under the door mats of this once grandiose and prestigious inn in the heart of Reno's heated hub; we did not all get a room there. We're branching out; the inn is full. Let's go bigger.
If one interprets anarchy to mean mutual-self-interest, this is what we have here–anarchy. You are being asked to become an art event promoter/organizer yo damn self! Make it happen. If you'd prefer, call yourself a (dis)organizer, it works for us!
This is not passing the buck, this is mutual-self-interest at work. This is not Mad Max, this is not warring factions vying for attention (well maybe there's some of that). This is NOT the trickle-down way of doing things. This is a less-and-less governed event featuring creative individuals who are taking the reins themselves in their own ways.
Artists: each year we're making a stronger stand and the old cliché of the starving artist, out of necessity, has become more and more a thing of the past. We're standing on our own, by ourselves but beside each other. We're not being nurtured any more. We've grown out of it and we're not standing for it any more.
The money's not there anymore; the staffing is not there anymore. The granting is not there, and the interest in becoming a non-profit organization WAS NEVER THERE! This is artists promoting themselves. Period.
You can do this. Unhampered, you will make your creative dream come true better than anyone else could have imagined it for you, so go; call them now, ask the management whatever you'd like. Their names are Floyd and Karol. People like to hear their own names so use them:
Townhouse Motorlodge 775-323-1821, also at 2nd & Arlington.
We want to flood these places with interest from artists, so you just go ahead and push the limits. You're invited, it's your event!

If this place is not adequate for your needs, go down Arlington Av. Inquire at any motel you'd like, that's how this event was started in the first place and as it builds each year, Joe, who owns ALL the motels between 2nd and 4th on Arlington has become a lover of what we're doing. Let's show him how much interest there is this year. The event in 2010 will be June 10th thru the 13th. Or, since it's so early at this point, I'm writing this in early October, 2009, ask questions here on this blog network. Pretty much anywhere around this site. Somebody will respond to you.
We've got a crowd drawn here on this site.
