Celebrating Reno's Infinite Potential For Absurdity

This is early maybe, it was touched on briefly at the meeting, but we've got to decide some jobs that need to be assigned to people. I wanna start thinking here about what needs to be done.
We'll be doing postcards for our shows again individually, maybe an overall flyer–we should really do one this year AND THEN there will be a job for someone to pass out flyers. We had a few people do it last year, last minute.

I'm going to keep updating this discussion with a list of jobs:

•Trocadero needs a entertainment director or an art show to happen there. (last year Tova totally took the reins, the first year it was Faith)
•TownHouse has a filled-in pool that we've already been invited to do something there.
(the space was wasted and the TH needs more of a draw)
•MORE ARTISTS to fill rooms, we always need those and this year we've got a great incentive, see other post "Want a Free Room?"
•MORE HYPE nationally fur sure, and with blogs it's easy And who Likes getting press addresses? There's a job–would someone do that for me, we can work together.. I work on the press release. contact me.
•Arts Bloggers to help fill this site with content and also get out there on the blogosphere finding artists that have an interest. Send them here.
•Just put up your best images and vids & talk here. Lets get arty, lets get noticed!

how did you ever get the idea that we were not anarchistic?
one show at a time, that's my motto.
have you shown yours lately?
i actually did over thanksgiving. saline valley is da bomb. been there 3 times now, i'll put up some pics when i'm at the right computer.
in this time of economic downturn do not be afraid of venturing even further into the unknown. what you learn about yourself can be extremely entertaining. and the best part is it doesn't put a strain on one's financial situation.
i tend to use past experiences as sources for artwork so as you look at my work take that into consideration.
if i don't see ya have a merry christmas. wow here it is december and hardly any snow in the mountains.
cheers,
Cindy

we need to get our rooms assigned early enough to put out a map i think.
perhaps the el cortez or towhouse owners could help finance such a deal as it could be advertizing for their establishments, a cool place to stay when you come to downtown reno. who might want to take a cool photo or two of the motels and design a brochure? i think diana's photos would be dashing. add some photos of last year's work on the brochure as well, or something.

This site will serve what purpose?

Let's talk about this concept of art in motel rooms and how this art event is different–and how to keep making it STAND OUT. What're we doing in these motel rooms, hmmm?? How much interest has there been? What's it like to attend this thing? Can other cities get involved? Who pays what to whom? When is check out time? If we find porn under the bed do we keep it?

People have a lot of questions to ask so ask away–or answer away–hell, do both.

Serendipity Gets It Upity

serendipity gets it uppity for me because it can feel great to be out of control, not calling the shots, that can feel great. I like art in that way and art making, you know, when a drip just works. Usually it turns out the 'accident' was better than you possibly could have planned out. Well, that's kinda how this show should be seen. 50 artists have exhibitions in rooms next to each other, there's gonna be some juxtaposed serendipity gettin' it uppity in hee-ah.
