Celebrating Reno's Infinite Potential For Absurdity

This is early maybe, it was touched on briefly at the meeting, but we've got to decide some jobs that need to be assigned to people. I wanna start thinking here about what needs to be done.
We'll be doing postcards for our shows again individually, maybe an overall flyer–we should really do one this year AND THEN there will be a job for someone to pass out flyers. We had a few people do it last year, last minute.

I'm going to keep updating this discussion with a list of jobs:

•Trocadero needs a entertainment director or an art show to happen there. (last year Tova totally took the reins, the first year it was Faith)
•TownHouse has a filled-in pool that we've already been invited to do something there.
(the space was wasted and the TH needs more of a draw)
•MORE ARTISTS to fill rooms, we always need those and this year we've got a great incentive, see other post "Want a Free Room?"
•MORE HYPE nationally fur sure, and with blogs it's easy And who Likes getting press addresses? There's a job–would someone do that for me, we can work together.. I work on the press release. contact me.
•Arts Bloggers to help fill this site with content and also get out there on the blogosphere finding artists that have an interest. Send them here.
•Just put up your best images and vids & talk here. Lets get arty, lets get noticed!

I'll continue to be The Majorette of Mischief. Taking the baton out and gonna be a maestro!

Other than that, I'd love to produce an overall flyer and help distribute. WE NEED programs!

great great, yeah this year's gonna be so much better. Last year it was almost double the amount of artists from the previous.. this thing's growing exponentially. Thanks ladies, we'll have a smooth running machine this year. let's get some battleships to bomb the neighboring islands while we're at it.

Hey -newbie here- excited about this whole gig and enthused that you're looking for more artists to participate, as i'd like to get a room, and maybe help out as well. Can anyone point me to the bureaucratic 'how to apply/get invovled' yada yada stuff... ?

Heya Newbie Wombat.. you are IN LUCK! You're here... at the moment that's all we can offer ya'. As the time gets closer I PROMISE we'll let everyone on this site know EXACTLY how they can get in. But for now, I can tell ya' there's info up under the menu that says "TheBeef" and under that you'll see drop down that says "The Lowdown" and that's where you'll find out some-some.
Otherwise, just stay tooned, stay involved, upload some pics & stuff and talk talk talk.

OOHHH, and we do MEETINGS, every month–second Thursday at about 7pm. Imperial Lounge near the Cortez. A couple of us 'big-wigs' will be late for this week's meeting so be advised... anyway, pay attention to the EVENTS or DOIN'S here on the DingDong for upcoming meetings & stuff.

After actually re-reading this post... let me just reiterate:

"•Arts Bloggers to help fill this site with content and also get out there on the blogosphere finding artists that have an interest. Send them here."
(Artreview.com is a great place to go.... it's a Ning site so signUp is easy to cross between here & there.

This site will serve what purpose?

Let's talk about this concept of art in motel rooms and how this art event is different–and how to keep making it STAND OUT. What're we doing in these motel rooms, hmmm?? How much interest has there been? What's it like to attend this thing? Can other cities get involved? Who pays what to whom? When is check out time? If we find porn under the bed do we keep it?

People have a lot of questions to ask so ask away–or answer away–hell, do both.

Serendipity Gets It Upity

serendipity gets it uppity for me because it can feel great to be out of control, not calling the shots, that can feel great. I like art in that way and art making, you know, when a drip just works. Usually it turns out the 'accident' was better than you possibly could have planned out. Well, that's kinda how this show should be seen. 50 artists have exhibitions in rooms next to each other, there's gonna be some juxtaposed serendipity gettin' it uppity in hee-ah.
